I checked out General's website and they don't list any tires at all in the Cobalt SS
215/45-18 size?

Most guys go with the 225/40/18 on their Cobalts.

I have 2 of these tires on my car right now. On the other axel I have Goodyear Eagle F1s. I have rotated the tires several times from the front to the back.

I have driven on 4 different sets of directional tires consisting of:

General Exclaim UHP 225/40/18
Dunlop SP9000 215/45/17
Goodyear Eagle F1 225/40/18
Yokohama Parada Spec 2 215/40/18

Here is how I would rate them.

Noise (Softest to Loudest)
1. General Exclaim UHP
2. Dunlop SP9000
3. Goodyear Eagle F1
4. Yokohama Parada Spec 2

The Generals out perform the Stock Dunlop SP9000 in straight line acceleration. However, that could be attributed to the large footprint. 225 for the Generals and 215 for the lops.

Hard Acceleration
1. Goodyear Eagle F1
2. Yokohama Parada Spec 2
3. General Exclaim UHP
4. Dunlop SP9000

The Generals would place 4th in the list for handling. In hard corning and quick stops it loses its grip before any of the other tires.

Hard Cornering
1. Goodyear Eagle F1
2. Yokohama Parada Spec 2
3. Dunlop SP9000
4. General Exclaim UHP

The Generals handle much better then all the other tires in wet conditions. I have not driven them, nor do I plan to, in the snow. I have read that some people do and think it is ok.

Wet Performance
1. General Exclaim UHP
2. Dunlop SP9000
3. Goodyear Eagle F1
4. Yokohama Parada Spec 2

Tire Wear? They are High Performance Summer tires so I think they all suck.

Overall the General Exclaim UHP is a great tire. They handle as well as most High Performance Summer tires in spirted driving conditions. Its limitations are only noticeable under heavy corning and high speed acceleration situations.

I highly recommend this tire for those who drive a lot of miles and don't do a lot of very spirted driving.

Its a very good tire at a great price.

I've had the stock 'lops
Eagle f1 dsg3
And now Bridgestone Potenza (all season)

Out of the 3, the Eagles kicked ass in every catagory, even wet, IMO.

The Potenza's kicked ass in price though (FREEBIE!) And I'm sure they'll do OK in the snow, but in the rain I slide all over the place! Can't wait to get another set of Eagles, or maybe something else better.

I have the Exclaim UHP's on the car now. They absolutely rock as a daily driver tire, but they suck for hard racing. Granted, they're half the price of "good" tires, so I'm not complaining.

They're decent. I put about 25,000 miles on mine, and they're down to the wear bars, which means no more driving in the rain.

For the money, they're good DD tires. I may or may not get another set, depends on if I can afford something better by then.
