That one day I want to do a turbo build on my RL. My goal is to make 350-400whp on pump gas with a semi-conservative tune, on a stock block, head, etc. To have it be a reliable, daily driver and hopefully keep the cost somewhat down. So far, without prices, my list is as follows.
GT3071 Turbo (.50comp side/.63turbine side)
Tial 38mm wastegate
Greddy type rs BOV
Turbosmart MBC
Hahn intake manifold (not sure if I want the portfueler option)
Spearco Intercooler
Ebay Intercooler piping (no one makes a "kit" for a Saturn so it has to be pieced)
Vulcan turbo exhaust manifold (quality is great and cost is cheap)
60lb/hr or 71lb/hr injectors with harness
Oil line kit (for turbo)
AEM UEGO wideband
Exedy hyper single or DFX clutch
Of course I'd love to do this myself, but in reality I wouldn't be able to. The only people that I know of that have any experience tuning these cars with HPTuners is Paul (06blackg85ss), Bill Hahn and ZZP. There is also a shop in the NE that tunes a LOT of turbo cars that are built, called Holyrollers Dyno
So, what do you guys think? I really don't want to do the whole twincharge thing. But I'm debating now if it's better for me to piece together my own kit or just take the car to Mr. Hahn and have them fab me up a kit from the SS/SC kit. Of course this is all depending on if I stay in the Army or not and also my family status at the time.
