Another project that I am working on

So I have been working on fibreglass hoods for the ION QC's, started a while ago, and have a threads on a couple other sites, but I thought that I would post them up here as well.

Current pics of the hood, I won't go and post all the progress pics from the start, cause well, it would just take too much time

The only problem that I have right now is that the meth injection plate is pushing up the supercharger too much and it hits the hood, well not really the supercharger, but the sensor that is bolted to it right on the top, so I am going to have to move it, and block off the hole somehow.

damn dude that's awesome. good luck, i am sure for the right price you can get some serious interest if you'd like to do this over and over again ;) be sure and keep us updated w/ your progress. might be a good time to do a weight comparison, too :)

I would estimate it at about 15-20lbs maybe less...........I would like to weigh it, but I don't have a scale around currently

Very nice! Are you going to make a mold with it? If you did, and did some C/F layouts, you could sell 'em like crazy. Everybody wants a hood like that. I'd buy one.

Yes I am going to be molding it, and making copies, but currently I am only doing it in fibreglass, as I have never tried using carbon fibre

C/F isn't that hard, you just need to use a nice slow resin (epoxy) so you have plenty of time to work out all the imperfections and get your lay up nice and straight. You could also just paint the fiberglass and lay a layer of C/F right on top of it...

I have talked to the fiberglass shop about doing CF, I need to use a different epoxy (costs more) and the CF is more expensive........maybe in time I will work on doing some CF, but for now I am going to stay with fiberglass.
