I installed my Devil's Own Progressive Meth Kit today and took some pics.

I couldn't find much information on a good installation location on a Redline but I think the spot I picked is going to work out great.

Well here they are.

I have everything hooked up except the injection nossel. I am leaning toward this throttle body spacer from Over the Top Performance.

Over The Top Performance (http://ottperformance.com/product_info.php?products_id=100)

It comes tapped with a 1/8" NPT fitting.

Unlike some of the knuckleheads over at RLF that had nothing but complaints about your choices, I think you did a decent job from what I can tell. I've never done one before, but it seems you got it all thought out. Looking forward to seeing your finished/tuned project.

looks damn good dude - that is the windshield washer fluid reservoir you're using, right?

i'm just curious to know what you plan on doing for windshield washer fluid now? :freak:

you can actually use washer fluid AS the injection fluid...if it's the right mix.

one question about the install though - how'd you stabilize the pump when you mounted it to the plastic fender well?

actually that'd be a badass way of doing it on-demand ;)

The day of the install was one of those magical days where everything goes right. Before the install I was planning on installing the pump in that location. I was thrilled when I pulled the bumper and saw that I had the space I needed. I placed the control unit in the cubby hole next the the steering wheel and found a good place to run all my wires.

Depending on your area of the county the Windshield washer fluid contains a certain amount of Methonal, water and dye to make it blue. In Northeast Wisconsin I can get the good stuff which is between 20-25% methonal. The methonal will allow me to increase my timing and the water will help to cool the charged air.

The recommend or "Perfect" meth to water ratio for street cars is 49/51. But meth can get real expensive and using windshield washer fluid makes it easy to get no matter where you are.

But windshield washer fliud does have one side effect....

The pump comes with thick rubber spacers at the mounting points. You can sort of see them in the pics. When I got everything back together I did a earthquake test and everything help up. But it is something that I will keep my eye on.

:) The two systems are completely seprate besides the tank.

What is weird is the fact that the Redline does not have a low Washer Fluid light. All the cobalt guys recommend using the Washer fluid tank because it will warn you when it is low. From what I have read...the ION does not have that feature but idk for sure.

I'll test it before I do any spraying.

now that you mention it i don't think i remember seeing a warning in my Ion (qc2) but then again i don't know that I ever let it get very low  - pretty ingenious idea coming from the shortbus, but wouldn't surprise me if they're completely wrong and the cobalt doesn't have a warning light either

I put 60k on my ION3 and now have 20k on the Redline and I don't remember if I ever saw a low light either. But like you I never really let it get low.

what exactly is the point of this?

Superchargers compress air. Compressing air makes heat. Heat robs horsepower after the engine is heat soaked. Spraying methanol mixture into the air stream has a cooling effect, thus re-condensing the air charge, thus minimizing heat soak (or rather making it take longer before you do heat soak). It slightly raises your octane level in your air/fuel mixture too.

ok cool thanks, i'm just starting to do some research about forced induction so this is all new to me lol, sometime in the future i wanna add a turbo tho, not a spr. charger, just preference i guess :).

People still run meth/water injection systems on turbo charged cars although it is not always required. Like Cat mentioned the methanol raises the octane level of the fuel allowing you to run more timing which will add power.

As long as you have a way to tune for a meth injection system is it an excellent supporting mod.

cool, i didn't know that...you can tell i'm just now starting to get into it lol.... do you know if this is as effective in rotary engines, i'd say there's not that much difference when it comes to that but i'm not sure, all my engine knowledge is based on rotary engines, i know a bit about piston engines but not much :)

Most ecotec guys have a very different opinion of the effectiveness of a rotary engine..... But If you were thinking about adding a Forced Induction system to your RX-7, I would definatly lean toward a supercharger. A supercharger will give your engine better low end tq over a turbo charger.

How do you plan on driving your car?

it's a daily driver...i'm currently in no budget to do anything, but i wanna go ahead and do my research to know exactly what i want....i'm defnitely set on well first of all rebuilding the engine, it's got a bit over 130k :), maybe adding a small street port to it, i've got my mind set on a turbo simply cuz it looks cooler, and for our cars there's only like 1 super charger setup w/out going into much/really expensive fabrication, and that set up doesn't have an I/C and i really don't wanna add that much pressure on the engine cuz rotarys have high combustion temperatures. that's why i'm set on turbo, with that said i'm still trying to figure out what i need, how it works and all that stuff, there's still lots of fab, since there's no turbo mani for 12A's (carbed) and well i wanna keep the nikki carb, i know a friend who boosted his and he knows how to boost prep the nikki so that's not a problem, plus i think the secondaries with boost will really be a nice kick...btw info on my car 85 rx7 Gsl, hmm no big mods right now, just rats nest removed, mechanical secondaries, and DFI...that's about it for the big mods.

as far as the reliability, my engine's been extremely reliable thus far and at 130k it's still kicking strong, i don't want huge boost, i'm guessing 6lbs would be enough for me, i may go bigger once i really learn about them but for right now i'm aming for 6lbs. so that should keep me pretty reliable :)...hopefully after i get all that done, i'll have enough funds to get another DD and just use this one in special occasions :P

dude, sorry for hijacking the thread, i should have started a new thread or something lol

Hey, have you gotten the controller installed yet? The install looks really clean, totally stealth! ;) Definitely encouraging.

Blue supercharger = pretty! LOL

The controller is resting in my pull out compartment on the left side of the steering wheel. I plan on leaving it there. There are a couple of places to mount it but I don't feel like drilling holes or having exposed wires in my cockpit. My TB spacer should be here tomorrow so I will start tuning for the meth then.
