Has anyone tried running JUST the cobra h/e without the stocker. The cobra guys just run a new one so why do we go through the stocker first?

Did anyone else get in on that group buy that was back in November? It's pretty much the same H/E that cobalt-addiction sells, but with no hardware (brackets, etc). I've e-mailed the sales there a few times asking about brackets and hardware and have yet to get a response. They are in LI so I may just visit them when i go down there.

Its a h/e inside a sealed box that is inside another sealed box that you can put dry ice in in order to "super cool" your other heat exhanger. In short, its drops your IAT2 temps alot when you have dry ice in it.

sound pretty kool but i dont think i could easily get my hands on dry ice lol. Ill stick with the CA Heat exchanger that paul is putting on

I know a couple of people who'd bypassed the stock HE b/c they didn't like it being next to the radiator. Looking at their logs, a stand-alone aftermarket HE doesn't seem to be as effective as a dual unit.
If/When BWoody brings their HE to market, that might be decent enough as a stand-alone.
Cobalt Addiction sells a pretty beefy one. PTParker is running it. He can tell you more.

The upgrade for the cobra guys might be an alternative, its a lot bigger than their stock units (the cobra stock unit). It would fill the space real nice too. It runs $300 though.

I got in on the group buy back in november. Good unit, but I had a hard time fitting it where I wanted to. As luck would have it, a friend of mine was putting in a second Stock Heat Exchanger around the same time in his Redline. Only problem is that he wasn't able to make it fit at all, and started to grind down some brackets to make it fit better, and still couldn't. I messed around with mine for a couple more hours before calling him up and seeing if he wanted to trade. He said sure thing, we swapped, and worked out very well for the both of us.
I installed the HE up front when I did my clutch install 2-3 weeks ago, and hooked up all the plumbing last week. I definitely recommend picking one up. However, I'm still running pretty hot. I think I'm gonna try porting the blower, and switching to a 2.7in from my 2.5. It's just not efficient enough running the 2.5 anymore. I'm also thinking about doing a co2 spray setup on the HE to cool my temps while I'm in the staging lanes.

so you put a RL HE on your ss/sc, and an ss/sc HE on his RL?

I say run the factory exchanger with a Cobra or larger secondary exchanger plumbed after the factory exchanger. It works well and is a piece-o-cake to plumb.
