Well, I figured somebody had to post something here!

First autocross run in about 6 years, with a new car (twice as powerful as my old SL) I eventually got down to 55.6 seconds, which was good enough to put me 2nd in D-Stock class against a BMW 330ci, Subaru WRX wagon, and an older BMW.

I've seen people come close to hitting cones.... but never pedestrians. What was up w/ that?

Basically, they have a few places where people watch for trouble, and reset any cones the previous driver knocked over. To maximize the time each person gets to run, they stagger the cars, i.e. you start before the previous guy finishes. Granted, you've got 30-40 seconds to buffer, it's not a problem, unless you're a slow runner and you run after a cone with a car coming! No harm done, I saw him with plenty of time, but he was stupid for not waiting. Since I had to slam on the brakes, I got a re-run.
