Well guys I thought I'd kinda kill two birds w/ one stone here and give a bit of an update on what's going on w/ the Procharger kit, and at the same time propose a solution to the Eaton / LSJ "lean cyl 4" issue that a few people have encountered.
For the 2.2's, crateEngineDepot (http://www.crateenginedepot.com) put in a lot of work and came up w/ an adaptive kit (http://www.crateenginedepot.com/store/Cobalt-24-Intake-Kit-W67C144.aspx) that utilizes the larger, more efficient, and all-around better 2.4 intake manifold w/ the 2.2's "drive by cable" throttle body. it's an awesome upgrade for the 2.2's, especially those that are or are considering F/I. Well my sponsor, SpeedMafia (http://www.speedmafia.com) has taken this a step further to offer some more precise, effective, and adaptable tuning for the 2.2's, in conjunction with this upgrade. They are in the research phase right now, but the plan of action is:
Take the 2.4 manifold
slap some 32# injectors in each runner
utilize the individual (up to 16) injector control of the SMT6/7 piggyback system to control each injector
tune for fuel based on RPM, & other parameters available to the SMT6/7
tune for ignition via the SMT6/7 as well
You can see this will offer the ability for a much finer tune for the 2.2's, tuning per cylinder instead of fuel for the whole system. and also essentially adds 32# injectors to the mix, while leaving the stock ECM to control the stock injectors during N/A and F/I driving, using the SMT6/7 to only add fuel to the equation under boost.
However, as you can also see, this solution would likely help out the LSJ crowd and their individually lean cylinders. Obviously the LSJ wouldn't have a need for the 2.4 manifold (unless it's larger than the LSJs) or ignition control via the SMT6/7, but it could still possibly benefit from the use of the SMT and an injector in each runner.
Just something to chew on. If people are interested maybe SMP could work on some sort of a solution for the LSJ crowd as well.
