I am looking at getting a 5 point racing harness and need some info. What manufactures do people recommend and how exactly are harnesses adjusted. Does each run of the 5 belts adjust speratly. What about mounting points? I was thinking about having two bolt-on areas welded to the floor, one in front of the seat and one in right behind it. The front would be used to attack the between leg strap and the back used to hook up a single strap that the two over the sholder straps will connect to (also thinking maybe doing two bolts in the back to attacks the sholder straps to solo). Ideas, thoughts, info, anything that could help would be good.

there's a good pic of a 4 point mount in an ion... lemme track it down and i'll post it.

aside from that yeah - i am pretty sure all 4 (or 5) belts would adjust independently of one another.

edit: here ya go

Thanks, that pic helps alot. It has defantly reasured me the bolt ins behind the seat to the floor is they way I need to go. I usaly have 3 passengers. It also makes me feel alot better about the sholder straps. And it looks like the runs adjust speratly.

FWIW, I believe Schroth (http://english.schroth.com/racing/) harnesses are the only ones that are DOT approved (i.e. you can replace your regular seatbelts with them)

you should NOT bolt the harness anywhere else in the rear of the car (the part that goes over your shoulders) other than what is shown in that picture. the reason being if you are in an accident, your spine will get crushed because you will be pulled down instead of back into your seat. get a set of these and you'll see warnings ALL over them about bolting anywhere over something like a 20deg angle

Thanks, that is very good to know since I will be replacing my regular seatbelt with it.
