for your wonderful LSJ.

well here is the easy way of doing it.

throttle body spacers are already on the market for some of these. not all of them? not sure why, they all bolt up the same.

airaid makes tb spacers that WILL work for the following throttle bodies, which bolt onto the lsj.
part numbers

200-585
200-586

COLORADO 04-05 Throttle Valve Assm; 3.5L
ENVOY 05 Throttle Valve Assm; 4.2L
TRAILBLAZER 03-05 Throttle Valve Assm; (4.2L)
HUMMER H3 06
BRAVADA 03-04 Throttle Valve Assm; (4.2L)
ENVOY XL 03-05 Throttle Valve Assm; 4.2L
ENVOY 03-04 Throttle Valve Assm; (4.2L)
IMPALA 06 Throttle Valve Assm; 5.3L
ISUZU ASCENDER 03-05 Throttle Valve Assm; 4.2L
GRAND PRIX 05-06 Throttle Valve Assm; 5.3L
ENVOY XUV 04-05 Throttle Valve Assm; 4.2L
TRAILBLAZER EXT 03-06 Throttle Valve Assm; 4.2L
CANYON 04-05 Throttle Valve Assm; 3.5L
MONTE CARLO 06 Throttle Valve Assm; 5.3L
TRAILBLAZER 06 Throttle Valve Assm; 4.2L
RAINIER 04-05 Throttle Valve Assm; 4.2L
SAAB 9-7X 05-06 6 cyl

now that you have the tb and spacer. you also need a 3.5 inch to 2.5 inch coupler. hose techniques has them in stock. it's a rare size, so it's not easy to find.

if this is done right, you can have less then 100 dollars in the mod.

why didn't i post this on css.net? im not stepping on peoples toes.

Don't forget to mention how you need to tune the MAF fail and something else...

im selling my ls4 tb. if i was building a purpose built drag car. i would do it. it is wwwaaaaayyyyyy too touchy for daily driving.

to add to this. the scaler needs to be set at 4500. timing needs to be dropped down low, or you will get audible knock. PE must be riched up. a lot. this is not a good mod for people with 42's. when i say this. before i was runnin 60% idc. after i was running 78%. i had to command 11.3 to run 12.0. the butt dyno tells me there isn't much difference. a motor can only injest so much air before it becomes a restriction.

Think this would still be as touchy if someone, say, switched to a custom sheetmetal intake manifold and converted to turbo?

I would think the engine could prob handle the increased flow. The M62 and Lower I.M. are more likely the restriction...

the big ass intake manifold made by SMS uses a 72mm LS1 throttle body - and that's for the 2.2s.... no mention of a tuning requirement through my research

How well do the heads flow..?

Have you seen the intake manifold for the LNF going into the cobalt..?? Nothing like the current one for the LSJ.
