I heard about this the other day. I can see this catching on with other brands in the near future. Law enforcement has been trying for decades to find ways to disable vehicles under pursuit. None have been entirely successful. Even stop sticks fail to operate effectively every time. You can miss them altogether or only get one tire. Then you have to wait for the driver to make a mistake. That usually results in collateral injuries and property damage. I can see vehicle disabling as a positive approach to ending high speed pursuits and ultimately making GM vehicles less of a desirable theft target.

This is quite possibly the coolest thing I've heard of Onstar doing. If I had the money to subscribe, I'd probably do it... but you have to get an '09. Bleh. Maybe when I buy another minivan...

gotta wonder if they'd still do it even if YOU were the one running from the cops
