Ok, so I know I'm not the only one who has rattling plastic C-pillar covers....you know the ones on the outside behind the rear doors? I was tired of them rattling all the time. I kept trying to tighten them. The screws were tight but they kept rattling. They also kept rubbing the quarter panel and causing the paint to rub off. So today I removed them and fitted some foam behind them to eliminate movement altogether. So, here's a how-to for removing them and filling the void behind them to keep them from moving.

1st, with the door open, remove the two screws holding the C-pillar on. They're located in the rear door jamb.

Also remove the screws on the roof rail trim above the rear door and the front door. You can see two of them in the picture also. You'll need a torx 15 screwdriver for these. Only remove the screws there. Don't try to remove the roof rails completely. You'll be able to pull the roof rail out enough to slide the C-pillar covers out.

2nd, if you have the batting material used throughout the car for panel rattle deadening just lying around, this will work perfect since it resists rotting when exposed to water and other environmental issues. I used the foam padding for making tool cutouts for toolboxes.

This is closed cell foam 1/2" thick. Any thicker and you're pillar cover might not go back in easily. Cut it to fit on the inside of the pillar cover.

Lastly, reinsert the pillar cover behind the fender panel and under the roof rail trim. Press all the panels in place and reinstall all the screws. You'll notice also that the pillar cover doesn't move anymore and also doesn't touch the quarterpanel lip, so paint won't get rubbed off anymore either!

Voila! No more rattles and if you use the right materials, water won't stay behind the panel either.
