OK guys, since winter time is upon most of us that are oh so lucky to live in the snowy regions of the coutry, I figure most of us that RR/Auto X our rides want to start upgrading/modding. I'm trying to gauge interest in some subframe connectors from URC.
This is a mod that I've wanted to do ever since I got my RL and haven't had the time to do it. It's worth any point penalty that your particualr sanctioning body will assign. So please take a minute to vote and I'll get with Watts Up to see if we can get somewhat of a group buy together so we can all share in a "reasonable" price. On a side note, aside from making the car handle better, if you plan on keeping your car for a while, it will keep it from being plagued with squeaks and rattles as age sets in.
For those of you with 'balt SS/SC's I do believe these will fit as well-so don't be shy!

I'd like to try to get enough people together to keep the price around $300.00 so that's my target.

Direct bolt-in or weld-in only? I'm up for anything to make my ride stiffer.

You could use them either way. Welding will give you about 15-20% more strength than bolting alone. I've always been a fan of bolting them in olace, then welding them in-that way you get a mechanical strength (bolts) and then a chemical strength (welding-you fuse the metals together).:blockhead:

Watts-Up had his hand in the pie. Sent him a PM on RLF (we need to get him over here) as well-I also sent Tracy at URaceCars.com a mail trying to get some idea of price. Once I get the specs on the weight and strength differences between the chromemoly and mild steel I can do a cost benefit "analysis". I'm shooting to keep them at or below $300.00

I voted yes, provided they are affordable. I don't mean inexpensive. I'm not cheap. I just want to make sure it's a benefit financially as well as structurally.

Read my first post-my target is $300.00 (I think that's a fair price considering how much goes into making them). Even if they're mild steel-they're a bit heavier than the moly, however the weight is low on the car (below the roll center), so the penalty is minimal. I've also asked for some strength numbers between the two-it shouldn't be much, but I'll wait to hear back.

I would be down for a set... I wanted a pair a long time ago when they were on the RLF but the price was something like 1k, but they were really nice. you could lift your whole car up with just one jack in the center of the car....

Watts-Up was the vendor...he lived close to me. I was supposed to be a tester I just didn't have the cash to shell out.

If he/they get enough to make the cost lower, it would be do-able at that price.

I wanna say the price went up to around $500 when they stopped making them, and that's exactly why they stopped. Something about the price of the chromoly goin up at the time or something. Either way, the pieces they made were really really nice, and Spooner )who was the only one I know who actually road raced the car) said it was a remarkable difference in the strength of the car.
