VERY NICE! Looks like a great set-up. You shodul check out the custom sub I am getting a group but for in the "for sale" section... It's designed for the rl/balt and would round off your system nicely.

I like the alpine components...

The thred is getting moved here when BC3 gets his ass outta bed :werd:

did u have to get any special dash kit for this? i have been looking at the N1/2/3 to avoid having to fabricate anything w/ the dash as those are single DIN units... but that D3 looks nice.... what's the thingy up on the windshield?

Looks tight. Did you have XM from the factory? If so, did you need to buy an adaptor for the XM antenna? Good choice on the Alpine, btw, I've always been a fan of their drivers...

To answer your questions

bc3- if your car is an 05 1/2 it comes wth a different radio bezel, a true double din. you can see the difference because it comes with the "orange" cobalt radio. But if your unlucky as i was and have an 04, then u have some bastardized din. I had still bought the double din kit, only to use half the parts to make custom brakets for mounting. The "frame" part that was in the kit served to be useless and i discarded of it. The other "braket" pieces i used
to screw in on the side of the d3 and then bolted up to the stock factory location, kinda a pain, but the results are well worth it.

bc3 & cation- Correct that is my microphone for my bluetooth adapter. The unit can use the bluetooth system and connect directly to your phone for easy hands free driving. God knows i need it, lol.

Edubs- i didnt come with xm from the factory, but to my understanding there is a plug in module that u can use for the d3 so u can retain your "stock" xm system.

Thanks for the compliments guys, it was truly a pain in the butt to install, but i love the thing to death.
The alpine drivers have been on my wishlist since i was into fbodies, they sound real nice, but they def need some type of amp behind them. Id say
4 ohm 75w rms would do it just fine.

Mikeyredline- i would have loved to jump on that system u got, but unfortunately my latest round of mods, (all stereo stuff, wideband, dual pass heat exchanger) left me kinda tapped. Although i have a RF sub outside awaiting an amp, im sure in the future me and you will shoot the shit about stereo "bumpage", i dont think il be all that happy with that sub.

Thanks for looking guys!

Thats the same bezel i have, so the any of the d-series will fit fine in your car with a little work.

i hate that phrase "a little work"
never ends up being just "a little" :mofo:

so long as u can measure and dremel 2 new holes in the braket, its literally little work

can measure - no dremel... but i do have a drill :up_to_som:

can you "hack" the d3 to allow movies to be watched while driving?

cool - i was originally looking at the N1, then N2, and heard that the N3 was "unbypassable" in that it didn't use a wire to the e-brake that u can ground or whatever, but did something w/ the GPS so it could sense you were moving.

but yeah, someday. no cash right now.
