OK, looking for some ideas before I go into this thing AGAIN. Here's what's going on:

Anytime I shift at 5500 rpms or higher regardless of throttle position, when releasing the clutch pedal it will SHOOT your foot off the pedal (as in, extreme force pushing back). Then, the pedal is very difficult to press back in to shift again. Shift mech. works fine. Now, after it builds pressure up like that if you are trying to go WOT around 5000 rpms, the clutch lets go and slips. You can press the pedal in a few times and it will work fine afterwards. It only slips on WOT, regular driving it's fine.

So what are the ideas? Bad spring in the disc? Bad pressure plate?

I had a buddy who had a clutch issue where it launched his foot off the clutch shifting at high rpms like you describs. It was bad springs on the plate. He had two of them and he discribed it as almost breaking his leg.... It was a ford 4 speed c-15 i think, but it happened at all rpms. Prob doesn't help much, but I would go with what spins giving it happens at speed.

Yeah, that's what I am thinking right now. That clutch has less than 10k on it for sure. That's not good....

im running a spec and i have noticed the pedal being stiffer like you said after a few wide open runs, but it hasnt shot my foot up with the pedal yet.

Does your clutch slip afterwards at WOT? I don't care about the stiff pedal, hell it makes it easier to shift into the next gear quicker, but the slipping I can't deal with.

this worries me...the Spec Stage 3 sitting on my floor is looking more and more like wasted $ - maybe I should contact Centerforce again...or bite the bullet and just get the Exedy.

Doesn't really matter what clutch you get if it just sits on your floor forever. :blockhead:

Spoke with SPEC. Here's what they say:

Our car has a self-adjusting pressure plate. Some of these are having problems with the adjusters sticking at causing a pressure build-up at high RPMS. His advise was to get a new pressure plate without the self adjusters, which would require a new clutch because they aren't compatible and a new flywheel because it's not compatible with the Fidanza one. He did offer to readjust the adjusters on my current pressure plate, but reminded me that there was no guarantee about that working or lasting.

That blows.

SPEC's been retarded w/ their customer service and products every time i see somebody post about them. they say X won't work but new ones have Y because of X, but you have to PAY to get Y which won't work with V or Z so you need those new too. and they don't foot the bill for any of it.

fuck the fucking fuckers.

You know, I've heard of people running the exedy but never seen them post whether it's good, bad or whatever. Maybe the lack of postings is a sign that they don't have problems?

You rarely hear of a product until it gives someone grief. How many people call their roadside assistance call center to tell them there's nothing wrong with their car?

I try to make it a point to thank people for good products/services when it makes my day easier. I let management know, I especially share that with people I know.

By the way......If you're looking for someone with excellent customer service and a solid product, check out nissangtrpower on Ebay if you want HID kits for the RL. I got my regular kit from them in February and upgraded it to bixenon the other day from them and have ZERO problems with their product or their customer service. Excellent people to deal with.

that is all..........

+1

I always make it a point to tell the vendor who I am, what sites I own, etc. especially if I'm pleased w/ their services.

Unfortunately, that doesn't work w/ larger companies unless you work for Consumer Reports. Then, maybe it matters. Maybe.

The girl in our club has the spec3 in her RL. She was having these same issues (along with another) in the beginning and she had to do just what they said. Had to get a new plate and she did have the fidanza fly as well. I cant remember exactly what setup she used in the end but it runs great now. U can pm her or Kane (he helped her) on uslsja @ it if you want to get exact info from them. =) Sorry, hope that helps a lil
