So I was in the wifes new ute' and some asshole decidec to line up next to me in a right turn only lane to cut me off on a left turn. I picked up on it and I made my turn ultra-wide basically forcing him to stop in the middle of the road.
Well he lines up next to me because the road we tuned on to was 2 lanes and we come to a stoplight... oh boy...
Knowing what was coming I guneed it off the line and we were even through about 20MPH...Then I began to pull on him abd shut it down around 60 (the speed limit was 50) with about a car and 1/2 on him... He flew by me as they always do... I was VERY suprised I did so well. It must have felt great that his $35K Jeep got beet by a $25K saturn... lol... a saturn.

Well if the manufacturers wouldn't take a sport ute and dump leather and high-end this and that into it and put a luxury car badge on the front it would be ok. I wouldn't want to take my $50/60/70 thousand dollar suv anywhere near the edge of pavement. I took the Vue off-road a few times. Not for sport. Just light dirt trails for camping and such. Camped/slept in the back of that a couple times. Hauled blocks in the back a few times too. I used it for what it was meant to be.

i took our kia sorento right into a 7' ditch during a downpour when we'd had it for only 2 months. i admit not the smartest thing to do, but the thing was a BEAST and handled it all awesomely.

:werd: It definitely fits the bill for light duty use, and how often do people really do more than light duty???

True that. But the simple point is that I used it for its initial intent. Some of these people buy them as a status symbol. "ooh look at me! I can ride on 24's with the billet grille and carry 28 gallons of gas! woooh And I don't care if that 28 gallons gets me from one gas station to the next one.....WOOH" Too bad they can't be used for anything practical.

Yeah, I could not agree more... There is a great parody of that at the end of the movie "Cars" where Sarge has an off-road camp and there is a hummer saying "man I ain't never been off road, I 'm gunna get my rims dirty!" I almost lost it...
