Thought I would post up some of the RWD conversion pics. We are far from done but closer than I was.

Here are some more components of my project.

Powering my engine are these two lovely snails. The larger is the GT-45 and the smaller is the GT-28.

I have two different set of custom rods, one from Macias Racing and 2 sets from Pauter Machine. I am actually building two engines so that I have a spare.

The following picture is the initial design for my turbo header. We are waiting for the chassis and engine placement to be finallized before the rest of the header is to be done.
http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x122/victory_red_SS/JBPcustomturboheader.jpg
This is one of two Turbo Switching Valves, which will be used in the sequential turbo setup. The white cotton looking material is aerospace grade insulator which withstands temperatures in excess of 1,000*s.
http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x122/victory_red_SS/109_1627.jpg
This unit is a totally custom Boost Swithcing Unit that will operate the aerospace transducer and turbo switching valves.
http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x122/victory_red_SS/109_1163.jpg
The following pictures are some parts that have come back from being coated.
The pistons received better than a ceramic coating, they received a zircon-ceramic coat, which is similar to diamond dust, and the piston skirts received the anti-scuffing coating. The valves all got the zircon ceramic coat, as did the intake, exhaust runners and the combustion chambers of the cylinder head.
The shiny coating on the valve cover, front cover and the sides of the head is an Aluminum flake coating, which in person is supposed to be even shinier and cooler than the pictures show. The engine block is still being done and we should have that back next week. This aluminum flake coating is supposed to be superior to powder coating as it is impervious to the elements. If oil gets on the engine, I have no idea how that would happen, it is just a matter of dish soap, water and a tooth brush to clean it up. Degreaser is a no-no.
If you look at the picture with the pistons next the head, you can compare the polished piston to the new coating.

Here are some of my parts to help with cooling. The ribbed tubes are the equivalant of Laminova tubes. The Meziere water pump is one of two we will be using. One for the intercooler and the other in place of the stock water pump. In addition to those parts we are using a customized "Supercooler" that will produce 800 watts of cooling power.

Stainless Steel Brake Company were the only ones who were able to supply us with the big brakes needed that would fit behind a 15" wheel for my slicks.
http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x122/victory_red_SS/SSBCbigbrakes.jpg
These are the custom seats for the car but I will be changing the suede in favor of leather.
http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x122/victory_red_SS/IMG_0211.jpg
The car will be street driven but will need to be setup for the track which means swapping out the Pro Street carrier and axels to a strictly drag racing set. Once this is done the car will be trailered to the track in my matching trailer.

I haven't got the bill on that yet but I will ask and post up the answer once I get it.

On another note, we have finally (cross fingers) solved my crankshaft problem. We have enlisted Crower to produce the needed crankshafts.

Why is the word crankshaft used in the plural sense there? Are you having a few made, just in case?

Exactly and to take that to the next logical step, I am building a spare engine so if one dies from fun, the next one is sitting there ready to drop in.

UPDATE

Okay we are making a bit of progress as you will see in the pictures.

The crankshaft has remained to be a source of frustration. After much delay the first partially made crankshaft was shipped from Texas to Lopez Crankshafts in California.
Sadly the crankshaft is so far from being finished that we are not holding our breath.
I have hired another company in California to make a crankshaft for us. The new crankshaft will be completed in under 8 weeks. I have to thank Lopez crankshafts for all their help in getting this other company to produce a crankshaft from scratch.

The car can now roll on it's own wheels. The SSBC brakes are in after there were a couple of installation issues with the frame. These resolved issues have actually freed up an extra 6 inches of space side to side, in the engine bay.
The spare engine is installed in the engine bay and you can see what the LSJ looks like in it's rwd position.

On Monday Distinct Images and JBP are finally going to be able to set the final placement of the turbos/dry sump/intercooler-intake/header.
Once that is done the exhaust pipe can be routed and the cage welded together. The rest of the conversion should go smoothly from here on in.

Surprise. :)

I am going for a fully accessorised car because this is not a track only car. I will be taking my wife out in this car and that means not just having a shell of a car.
Now the bad news is that it likely won't have the A/C because of the front bar for the roll cage actually is in the way of part of the A/C unit under the dash. I am still pushing for some form of A/C but only time will tell.

Fine already, but it won't always work that way.:freak:

The meeting between JBP and Distinct Images was held this past Monday. We now know where most of the items are going in the engine bay.

The two turbos will both be mounted directly to the frame, so they will be in there really solid.
The picture with the grey box is the mock up for our intake manifold/intercooler and there is plenty of room for it.
There is also a picture of the placement of the turbo header and the ample room we have for it.
A couple of pictures show just how far we had to push the engine towards back to allow for the steering rack to work as well as stay under the hood. Remember the plan is to stay as stock as possible for all body components. The one exception so far is the addition of heat extractor vents that will be added to the fenders.
I have also included some more pics of the rear. In those pics you can see how low I will be sitting once this is all done.
You will also notice the rear coilovers are missing but that is simply because of the soon to be welding of the roll cage.
And of course the icing is the slicks for the race track. :)

I'll have to remember that one!

The only thing cooler would have been to keep the Eaton, and fab an intake manifold that perched it right on top the motor, so it stuck out the hood... and you could say "Hey, it's still got the factory motor in it!" LOL!

Talk about freak people out. I sense a few Vette owners who are going to get schooled...

The bell housing is from McLeod. It still needs an adapter plate to mount to the engine.
I did talk to Keisler about the one they made for the 2.2 Ecotec but they weren't willing to make another one and they said for them to do so and have it SFI certified would cost about $15,000. That wasn't happening.:freak:

I did some searching, and I found a place that sells bellhousings to mate the Ecotec with GM transmissions. I don't know if they're strong enough for what you're doing, but if you wanted to build a medium-power project car, this would be perfect! Here are the latest pictures of my project. I took these last weekend when I was in Toronto visiting the car.
I should have new pictures later next week as the turbo piping, intake manifold/intercooler, bellhousing and engine should all be completed very soon. :)

The first four are a comparison of two SS/SC's

That is a Magnuson S/C albeit not quite the one we have decided to use. Mine is actually a larger displacement blower (the newest/largest one they make).:freak::facelick::rofl:

In reading through all of this, I guess I missed a minor update like ... 4 extra cylinders? and a twin screw blower? What happened with the LSJ?

BTW, everything looks great...including the blower

Yes I have been a bit lax with the updates over here but the skinny on the changes are that JBP ripped me off royally, over stated their abilities/credentials and the LSJ they built was far from a capable 1,000whp engine.

Add to all of that the cost to redo the LSJ to be what was promised and it was actually cheaper to go with the LS2 plus the LS2 will have a longevity the high HP LSJ never could have gotten, despite JBP's claims of 100,000 miles before tear down.

that sucks man - have you at least blasted JBP on every forum you're on? Start a thread here in the Buyer Beware section if you'd like to vent :)

I have held off of blasting them outright due to the legal fight that we are going to have soon enough (lawyer's advice). I do however let people know not to buy their products and others have also done some outright blasting on their own.

The catch-22 part is that in order for me to collect from a JBP lawsuit, they have to rip-off (:bananahump:)other buyers to have the money to pay me.

unfortunately they will continue to get money from others.....

I am glad I didn't spend the money I wanted going with them to build my engine....I always had an uneasy feeling about their work and I could never justify spending that amount on an engine they couldn't give me a reference to (to talk with an owner).

Thankfully, my engine is still holding. Plus I have more torque than most of the fools running TVS's.

I am glad you weren't one of JBP's victims.

Now as for your comment about those 'fools' running a TVS, I resemble that remark:ack::lol:
