Well after some rough dealings with redlineforums I will sell over here..
I know in order to sell I would need to become a vendor but im just putting a feeler out for our new product. We just started making these aluminum caliper covers, they are powder coated into (black, red, yellow and blue) or just left natural. They are a universal fit with a couple different sizes to make sure its big enough to cover the caliper. Right now we offer a few cars, cobalt, cavy, scion's. They are held in place by a high temp 3m VHB tape they are not going anywhere we have tested them on our cars since 05.
Prices would be 45 for a pair 85 for a set(if you have four wheel disc)

we are working to get some on car pictures....

Yeah - EI is where those that get fed up with the RLF crap end up...
I'm curious...and I hear your "testing", but tape on the calipers and inside a wheel? If there was anywhere I'd NOT want anything to potentially interfere with the brakes of my car, especially up front, it's be the calipers/brakes. Is there no way to tap a screw hole into the caliper or make a mounting bracket to bolt up to the caliper bolts?
I'm not necessarily a potential customer b/c I'll be modding my front calipers here shortly anyway, but figured I'd throw it out there...
Welcome to EI, by the way...enjoy!

good points about the tape, mgm, however it does say he's using high-temp 3M stuff.
the only other thing i'd worry about are those that put 16" wheels on for drag racing.. clearance is damn tight w/ those already. some guys are even grinding down the calipers to fit 15" rims.

I understand about the high temp, but have you seen a crazy-glue type tape on the market yet??? Maybe I'm just a little paranoid about the area around the brakes.
and there's definitely some caliper grinding in my future (got the spare calipers in the garage)...no way anyone's getting those covers on any wheels smaller than the 17s (that I've seen so far)...this is more for the guys sticking with the standards 17" and 42mm offset wheels.

I re-directed this guy here cuz he got the huge FUCK YOU from e-tool.....you know BC3kool's brother.:blah: Offered his money and everything. But they shut his thread down and didn't respond. Their loss. Anyone trying to make quality add-ons should be welcome.

it does add some height to the caliper its not much but less than a 1/4 inch. As for the tape its 3m VHB (very high bond) this stuff pretty much holds on anything... and its got a high temp hold. Your calipers will get warm but your rotor is where all the heat is at thats why they are cooled in the center.
yeah i got the big FU and I was one of the original redline guys on that forum back when we had NO performance parts...

sounds like a decent product. have you any reviews of ppl that already have them? or vids of them in action (like at an AutoX event)?

can you PM me the vendor prices?
the reviews would consist of people here at our shop. I do know the yellow taxi cab at scionpro.com has them.
as for them in action that would be just parked or driving down the street.

So it's only the center piece, right? No chance on having the rest of the caliper covered as well?

no
the caliper and the brackets on the side will be covered

That's not bad. I would like to see a pic installed. I may be interested in that. What is the longest these have been on a car? I know people swear by this high-temp paint but I wonder about longevity.
BTW, I remember you from WAY back on rlf. I don't know why I felt like throwing that in, but I did. Hopefully it will make you feel special or something.

my advice to you, though, would be to get these onto somebody's car that AutoX's - that will punish them more than anything else and really show how well they hold up.
also maybe on somebody's car who's in a cold climate, through the winter.
just a couple thoughts to help dispel any first-impressions that may be given.

Maybe you need some deep south testing them. The summer outside ambient of 100+ with humidity of 80%+ makes glue turn into liquid and drip. Then you put it on top of the brake calipers and add the additional heat---it will certainly test the high temp claims....

we tried the back of the caliper mount but it varies from application and did not have the good solid fit as directly mounted to the front. this 3m VHB tape is some pretty strong stuff.

well im at a dead end right now, they backed out of the original deal of giving me finished parts to where i was getting raw parts and I needed to find a powdercoater. To make a long story short at my small volumes 200-400 parts its going to be entirely too expensive. Sorry guys.

I'd splurge for a used oven and a do-it-yourself powdercoating gun...I think the kind they have at SEARS would work perfect.

Seriously, why would anyone really want these? Painted/cleared calipers at least look like they belong there, as opposed to a flat piece of metal over the caliper. Just wondering.
