The Rocky Mtn. Ecotec guys showed up in force yesterday for a King of the Street bracket event...3 of 10 vehicles made it into the top 8, and 2 were knocked off in the Semi's...1 more was bumped on the bubble.
Fun times - never done the bracket stuff (still haven't, b/c I watched - thank you POS clutch), but it was good times all around. And seeing the operations at a major NHRA track was something else...for as many cars as there were, they were pushing through each round quite quickly. And the prep was awesome - wish I was driving.
The depressing point of the day was watching cars I know are in the 12s struggle to break into the 13s...altitude is a killer - I'd heard about it, and understand the physics of it, but actually seeing it in action was something else.
That's not to say there weren't quick cars though - saw a few 10 and quicker passes...and a Trailblazer SS that was absolutely sick, running in the high 11s-low 12s all day. Never got to finding the guy to talk to him, but that was one mean SUV!
