View Full Version : Is there any way to make the TB more responsive through HPT?

I know that our sstem is Drive by wire... my question is, is there any way to make it more responsive or to where the TB closes faster to help revs drop quicker by tuning in HPT?

Im going to be getting an LS4 TB here pretty soon and i've heard that they close even slower than our TB's and the revs hang even longer...

Id really like to find a way to help the revs drop quicker and if it can be done through HPT that would be awesome.

I haven't played with it yet, but there is a setting...dunno what it is off the top of my head, but I think it was someone here who pointed me to it.

+1 on this question. I was wondering that too.

rev dropping / picking up could also be quickened by a lightened flywheel, if you don't already have one... just to approach your "issue" from a different angle :)

Good point I was thinking about changing the flywheel, later on when I go to replace the clutch.

That's what I was thinking too. Lighten rotating mass makes it spin up quicker but also slows down fast once you get outta the pedal. Not sure if altering the programmed signal would make it close fast enough to notice significant improvements. But I also don't know shiznit about HPT.

I have an LS4 TB and it has great throttle response. Almost too much to the point where it is touchy. My tuner is actually trying to figure out a way to make it less touchy. Unfortunaty, that table probably does not exist in HPT.

Installed on car with a 3.5" to 3" coupler.

if LS4 is too much, maybe should just have ported the stocker...

Yeah I hate the way the rpm's hang after you get on it, then stop in neutral. I have heard it was the ecm burning off excess fuel. It's annoying, makes me wear my clutch by putting it in gear and letting out the clutch a little to drop the rev.

I changed the clutch and they didn't hang as much. Just something to think about.

I also remember when I added the GMPP manifold I got better throttle response. That was a LONG time ago  too.

Jesus I fail, why the hell didn't I finish reading this thread? It could have saved everyone the trouble of answering my question that was already answered here. My bad, thanks everyone.

What is the best place to buy a LS4 TB? A junkyard? Or know anyone who sells them cheap?
