I got a little crazy a few weeks back and bought a "Twin Charge" kit from someone who bought the old Twin Charged Redline made by psi-fi a couple of years ago.

Here is a video I am sure you have all seen....

http://videos.streetfire.net/video/04-Saturn-Ion-Redline-M62_33766.htm

I DO NOT PLAN ON USING IT TO TWIN CHARGE MY CAR!

It uses a SMT6 controller which is a piggy back tuning system. I bought cause I got a very good deal on it and IF I ever plan on going turbo I have a good inexpensive starting point.

I already have 2 local guys call dibs on it if I don't want it.

I don't want to say exactly what I paid but he had it listed on ebay for $2800 + $130 for shipping. All I am going to say is that I paid about....22.1843% of that to get it to my door.

Here are some pics:

Suprise. The kit included an IC pump. That could be worth $50?

Fuel injectors installed to the back of the IM. I wondered how they did that.

So what do you guys think?

First off, I would NOT run that on my car if it was all I had to get it running again...iirc, they NEVER got the thing to run better than a little more than 300whp, which is why the guy sold it. And is Psi-Fi even around anymore!?!?! They took QUITE a hit for their inabilities with this build, as well as when HPT came out and everyone got their hands on the potential.

A good starting point - maybe, but chances are you'll end up reworking most of the kit anyway...those pics indicate more than a few "jerry-rigged" spots - I don't know about you, but I don't typically like to do things "just enough".

You could surely part it out and get your money back though - so that's a good investment right there, I suppose.

Remember that ant did this before tuning was available. He used the SMT-6 for his 'tuning' abilities. I have the wiring diagram somewhere.

Totally agree. Why would anyone even consider it now that HPT is avalible.

I think I saw a thread that mentioned 311whp. The setup is much more capible then that. Like I said before it is my backup plan.

Do you think that plate that the extra injectors are installed in is worth anything? It must be very rare...

I think it is glued/sealed to the IM but I should be able to remove it.

there's no doubt a twincharged setup has a lot more potential than ths PF kit achieved...and in today's market, I have no idea why anyone would prefer to "trick" the computer, rather than just "teach" the computer directly through HPT - you definitely have an advantage now. I just don't trust much of the work that was put into that setup - remember, they somewhat rushed in order to get the kit on the market...and even then, the numbers proved (imo) that they might not have done things quite right. Even WITH the piggy-back, people we expecting closer to 350 whp with that kit...question is, where'd they go wrong?

Someone might buy that injector plate, you never know...hell, someone might pick up the whole IM setup for like $500.

Oh man, psi-fi, hahaha, that brings back memories of the good ol' days! Who is it that has the new twincharge kit out now? Isn't it putting down like, 400+ whp on stock internals/fuel system???

That would be ZZPerformance.com and they made 440whp on 60# injectors...

I would love to twin charge my car....seriously. I just need to spend the money elsewhere. I don't think I'd get as much power as going straight turbo but its the coolness effect I'd want

Interesting...

I just figured out that the charged air pipe gets mated to the stock Intake box. Maybe it is worth keeping around for a little while.

That IM is never going on my car. Maybe a L61 guy would be interested in it.

That is actually a pretty neat looking kit. But yea, the ZZP TwinCharge blows that away... Hey if anyone want's ZZP's I think they are still offering like $900 off for the first installed kit...
