Actually this was passed onto me by the guy who finished my tuning, cause I have a custom ignition pack cover on my car.

I have the program to laser cut more of them, but instead of just making replacement ones, cut out venting slots, words (ie, Redline, Saturn, ION, something like that) or anything else custom to release some of the hot air from under the cover. He was saying that the cover keeps in all the heat, and heat is a enemy of coil packs, they would last longer, and probably fire better/stronger if they were cooler.

I am going to get mine cut out on monday and post up some pics, its going to be pretty sweet.

Actually I had a better idea, to install a cooling fan on it, but I don't know where I could get a 2-3" 12v fan that can take the heat of a engine, yes I would use a computer fan, but I don't think it could take 200 degree temps......if anybody has a idea, post it up and I will check it out"

computer fans can't take 200 deg temps? have you ever tried to touch the top of even just a 2.4ghz p4?? :eek: case fans maybe, but a processor fan, i bet could take it. even if it can't what are you out - some melted plastic on top of your engine, woo ;)

alpha has a set like the last ones (the top one) gmredline posted.

Mine are cut all the way through with a powder coated yellow bar beneath the cut out. They are exactly like the ones sold my MRZ (mine were the templates)
I have door sill thingys too.
Mine cost a lot more than $55 though

Wouldn't the ones that are cut all the way through just leave that area open to dirt and a lot of moisture that will eventually cause them to fail?

As for hurting the coil packs, they haven't done anything to my car, and I have been running them for a while, but keep in mind that the coil packs are epoxy sealed units, and the connectors are water tight as well. In my opinion the only thing this will do is allow some unwanted heat to disapate from the coils easier, and in my book thats a good thing for electronics.

The redline one is the one Jer made for me, hit him up he ad a couple different options.

I can also do brass (I don't know who would actually want that, but yes I can do that) that will be same cost of 40

Alum checkerplate will probably be more, cause of the cost of the raw material, I will have to check into it, if anybody get interested in it.
